AM335X: Memory manufacturer recommendation

Hi Guys...

We are building a BBB look similar board. The BBB used .5gb memory: Kingston D2516EC4BXGGB, or Micron MT41K256M16HA-125:E. The Kingston chip seems to be available but the Micron is in "Contact Factory" status. Micron does have MT41K256M16TW-107 IT available, is this a good substitute for the MT41K256M16HA-125:E?

Also, we are interested in a 1gb option. It appears Micron is the only manufacturer with this option, either the MT41K512M16HA-107 IT or MT41K512M16HA-125 IT. Are there other manufacturers making these memory modules? Has anyone had any success with 1gb memory on a AM335X?

Yes, this is a faster memory and it should work with no problems.

Yes, I have used 1Gbit in a custom board I designed some time ago.

On the 1gb board you mention, did you use a single 96 ball 1gb memory device? What was the memory part number?

I'm sorry, this was my mistake here. I had forgotten that the memory is in fact 512MB.
Yes, it's a single 96-ball memory. P/N is MT41K256M16HA-125IT:E
The corresponding 1GB part would be MT41K512M16HA-125 IT:A

Biser,

Looking at ISSI 96 ball memory, the part numbers that I come up with are:
512mb: IS43TR16256AL-125KBL (IS43TR16256AL-125KBLI for industrial temp)
1gb: IS43TR16512AL-125KBL (IS43TR16512AL-125KBLI for industrial temp)

Are these devices compatible with the AM335x memory interface? As I read the specs, the 512mb device looks like it will work on an AM335X, but the 1gb device shows the A15 address line as NC. If you do the math, A15 is required to address the upper 512mb of the 1gb total.

IS43TR16512AL-125KBL is a dual die device. It will not work on AM335x.

Actually, it will work, but only lower 512MB (4096 Mb) will be available :(

I use AM3352 DDR3 MT41K256M16HA-125:E Clock Rate 800MHz changer to MT41K256M16TW-107:P Clock Rate 933MHz，Clock Rate is different how do i set parameter and AM3352 datasheet External Memory Interfaces is 800MHz can use on 933MHz?

I have the same question about this.

Because "DDR3 MT41K256M16HA-125:E" phase out, we need to replace "DDR3 MT41K256M16HA-125:E" to "MT41K256M16TW-107:P".

We have followed the TI instruction to configure new DDR3 parameters at bootloader.

But the CAS Latency of "MT41K256M16TW-107:P" is not match with TI am3352. What can we do???

BTW CAS Latency of "MT41K256M16TW-107:P" is 13. And Max of CAS Latency support is 11.

Although we have only built a few, we have used the following interchangeably with no software or configuration changes and haven't seen a problem:

Kingston - D2516EC4BXGGB

ISSI - IS43TR16256AL-125KBL

Micron - MT41K256M16TW-107:P

Micron - MT41K512M16TNA-125:E

Hi Brian,

thanks for the feedback.

Anyway I have completely overlooked the situation with binspeed -107 and stuck to the previous reply.
As the max. speed supported by AM335x is 400MHZ (2.5ns, CL=6), than actaully all speed bins from Micron can be used as all of them support 400MHz (CL=6).
