Linux/AM5718: Qt font selection

Part Number: AM5718

Tool/software: Linux

Hi,

We have developed the SOM using AM5718. We are using this for HMI application developed on QT. We are trying to keep our required font type(Arial). we have arial font files in the following path

/usr/share/fonts/ttf/arial.ttf

/usr/share/fonts/ttf/arialbl.ttf

/usr/share/fonts/ttf/ariali.ttf

where as when we run fc -list it is not showing arial.ttf file where as other files are appearing. What is the issue why font is not taking. Please suggest how to keep required font.Is there any procedure.

Thanks & Regards,

N.V.Subbaiah.

  • Hello,

    Could you try this command:
    fc-cache -fv
You could check fonts.conf file also.

  • Hi,

    root@am57xx-evm:~# fc-cache -fv
    /usr/share/fonts:
caching, new cache contents: 3 fonts, 0 dirs
    /home/root/.local/share/fonts: skipping, no such directory
    /home/root/.fonts: skipping, no such directory
    /var/cache/fontconfig: cleaning cache directory
/home/root/.cache/fontconfig: not cleaning non-existent cache directory
/home/root/.fontconfig: not cleaning non-existent cache directory
    fc-cache: succeeded

    root@am57xx-evm:~# fc-list
    /usr/share/fonts/LiberationSerif-Bold.ttf: Liberation Serif:style=Bold
    /usr/share/fonts/LiberationSerif-Regular.ttf: Liberation Serif:style=Regular
    /usr/share/fonts/LiberationSerif-Italic.ttf: Liberation Serif:style=Italic

The fonts listed under fc-list are not reflecting in GUI application where as it is taking from the following path.
    root@am57xx-evm:/usr/share/fonts# cd /usr/lib/fonts/
    root@am57xx-evm:/usr/lib/fonts# ls

Font size is not reflecting as per the requirement. How to change the font size.

    Thanks & Regards,
    N.V.Subbaiah.

    /usr/share/fonts/ttf/LiberationSans-Italic.ttf: Liberation Sans:style=Italic
    /usr/share/fonts/ttf/LiberationMono-Regular.ttf: Liberation Mono:style=Regular
    /usr/share/fonts/ttf/LiberationSans-Bold.ttf: Liberation Sans:style=Bold
    /usr/share/fonts/ttf/LiberationMono-BoldItalic.ttf: Liberation Mono:style=Bold Italic
    /usr/share/fonts/LiberationSerif-Regular_try.ttf: Liberation Serif:style=Regular
    /usr/share/fonts/ttf/LiberationSans-Regular.ttf: Liberation Sans:style=Regular
    /usr/share/fonts/ttf/LiberationSerif-Bold.ttf: Liberation Serif:style=Bold
    /usr/share/fonts/ttf/LiberationMono-Italic.ttf: Liberation Mono:style=Italic
    /usr/share/fonts/ttf/LiberationSerif-Italic.ttf: Liberation Serif:style=Italic
    /usr/share/fonts/ttf/LiberationSans-BoldItalic.ttf: Liberation Sans:style=Bold Italic
    /usr/share/fonts/ttf/LiberationSerif-BoldItalic.ttf: Liberation Serif:style=Bold Italic
    /usr/share/fonts/ttf/LiberationSerif-Regular.ttf: Liberation Serif:style=Regular
    /usr/share/fonts/ttf/LiberationMono-Bold.ttf: Liberation Mono:style=Bold
    /usr/share/fonts/ttf/Arial-Regular.ttf: Arial:style=Regular,Normal,obyčejné,Standard,Κανονικά,Normaali,Normál,Normale,Standaard,Normalny,Обычный,Normálne,Navadno,thường,Arrunta
    root@am57xx-evm:/usr/share/fonts# fc-match Arial
    Arial-Regular.ttf: "Arial" "Regular"

I would recommend you to check these files:
    root@am57xx-evm:/etc/fonts# ls
    conf.d fonts.conf

  • Hello,

    Sorry I misunderstood something.
Actually, you are seeing arial with fc-list, but you want to use it in qt app, right?

  • Hi,

Yes. Font is selected where as size is not changing.

    Thanks & Regards,
