AM5726: Please compare AM572x and DM50x?

Part Number: AM5726
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DM505

If we move from DM50x to AM572x, what functionality do we gain?  And what functionality do we lose?

DM50x has Image Signal Processor(ISP) and Display Subsystem(DSS).  Does AM572x have these resources?

  • Hi Amer,

AM572x do not have ISP. AM572x have DSS, Dual Arm Cortex-A15 & Dual DSP.

You need to compare DM50x and AM572x datasheet to check the exact differences.

DM50x is for Vision Analytics Applications - Drones, Robotics, Industrial Transportation (Forklift, Rail, Agriculture), Factory and Building Automation cameras. The DM505 is a highly optimized device for Vision Analytics and Machine Vision processing in Industrial products such as drones, robots, forklifts, railroad and agriculture equipment. The Processor enables sophisticated embedded vision processing integrating an optimal mix of real time performance, low power, small form factor and camera processing for systems to interact in more intelligent, useful ways with the physical world and the people in it.

AM572x is for Industrial Communication, Human Machine Interface (HMI), Automation and Control, High Performance Applications, Other General Use. AM572x Sitara Arm applications processors are built to meet the intense processing needs of the modern embedded products. AM572x devices bring high processing performance through the maximum flexibility of a fully integrated mixed processor solution. The devices also combine programmable video processing with a highly integrated peripheral set.

AM572x device comes with SW options for Andriod, Linux, Linux-RT and TI-RTOS. While DM50x has only some kind of RTOS SW.
