AM5746: USB2.0 connection not stable

Part Number: AM5746

Hi,

My customers are investigating whether the problem they are experiencing is related to errata i819.

"i819 A Device Control Bit Meta-Stability for USB3.0 Controller in USB2.0 Mode"

Their problem is that the USB 2.0 connection is not stable.
When the USB cable is connected / disconnected, it becomes unconnected.

Question 1:
Could you tell me more about the phenomenon caused by this errata?

Question 2:
This eratta is considered critical when using USB2.0 mode.
Are there any plans to correct it by changing the revision of AM5746?

  • Hello, answers to your questions:

    1)  Not sure how to add more to the description in the erratum. As outlined, when operating in USB2.0-device-only mode  the controller may attempt to connect at USB3 or may fail to connect at all. This behavior is non-deterministic.

The workaround has proven to be robust...has it been tried in this case? Even if the customer wishes to operate in USB2-only mode, enabling the workaround for debug purposes would be useful.

    2) I am not aware of plans to revise this device.
