AM5728: IPU usage in Linux

Our customer wants to use both IPU1 and IPU2 subsystems for general purpose with Processor SDK Linux.

IPU seems to be used only for accelerating multimedia encode and decode with IVA in Processor SDK Linux.

If the multimedia encode and decode are not needed, are both IPU1 and IPU2 subsystems available for general purpose usage with Processor SDK Linux?

Yes, both the IPUs are available for general purpose usage.

Could you tell me how to disable the support of the multimedia encode and decode to use both IPU1 and IPU2 subsystems for general purpose with Processor SDK Linux?

I understand that only replacing IPUMM firmware is needed to use both IPU1 and IPU2 subsystems for general purposes with Processor SDK Linux.

Is my understanding correct?

I also have additional questions.

Should the latest build tools be used to build an IPUMM firmware?

If so, should the ARM compiler tools use GCC instead of TI CGT?

I am concerned that the contents in the document you have pointed out cannot be applied to the latest environment because it are very old (probably more than four years ago).
