[FAQ] TDA4VM: How to load firmware using R5 SPL from eMMC

I'm able to load R5 firmware on the mcu1_0 and mcu2_0 via R5 SPL from MMCSD.

How can I enable loading firmware from eMMC rather than MMC/SD using R5 SPL? Is there a patch to enable this, as I do not see this in the SDK.

NOTE: My SDK version is SDK7.0

Please use the attached patch to load firmware from R5 SPL from eMMC - /cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/791/0001_2D00_Add_2D00_support_2D00_to_2D00_load_2D00_firmware_2D00_via_2D00_R5_2D00_SPL_2D00_from_2D00_eMMC.patch

NOTE: This patch is tested in SDK7.0

Explanation of the patch:

The patch changes the MMC device from MMCSD to eMMC. Also the bootpart is changed to the rootfs in eMMC.
Patch also adds case to handle when boot device (spl_boot_device()) is eMMC instead of MMCSD.

Application of the patch:

# Apply the patch

cd <SDK_INSTALL_PATH>/board_support/u-boot-2020.01+gitAUTOINC+f9b0d030d3-gf9b0d030d3\
git am <PATH_TO_PATCH>/0001-Add-support-to-load-firmware-via-R5-SPL-from-eMMC

# Rebuild u-boot, R5 SPL, A72 spl

cd <SDK_INSTALL_PATH>
make u-boot-a53 -sj
make u-boot-r5 -sj

# Flash the below images to the eMMC boot partition

ls -la <SDK_INSTALL_PATH>/board-support/u-boot_build/r5/tiboot3.bin
ls -la <SDK_INSTALL_PATH>/board-support/u-boot_build/a53/u-boot.img
ls -la <SDK_INSTALL_PATH>/board-support/u-boot_build/r5/tiboot3.bin
