PROCESSOR-SDK-AM65X: Sitara AM65x Spry325 : I need to clarify is this processor execution time is 100µs??

Hai Sir/Madam,

                    Currently, We are doing R&D in Power system Field so we have issues in choosing processor for our specified applications. I need to clarify my few doubts and aspects to technical person regarding those following terms and conditions in choosing processor boards.

 Processor Requirements:

  1. Max Basic execution time of module 100µs.
  2. 50% loading during peak processing.
Suitable to handles the following inputs and outputs other than internal logic, HMI Display, Communication requirements,
  1. 28 Digital inputs
  2. 32 Analog inputs (Including 4-20mA output)
  3. 16 Digital outputs (Extra High Speed Relay Switching)
  4. 32 Digital outputs (Led Indications)
  • The following futures also required in the unit
    1. Processor 50% loading during peak process.
    2. Internal time setting for delay minimum scale limit shall be 100 µs.
    3. RJ45 & IEC 61850 Communication.
    4. Time Synchronization input (IRIG or GPS)
    5. Large HMI display.
    6. Hard Key futures for logic / program edition for engineering files.
    7. Dual LED (RED/GREEN) shall be programmable based on the requirement.
    8. All DI/AI/DI/DO tagging editable through license hard key.
  • If required any time to be adjusted by manual extra provision shall be provided +0.5 msec to -0.5msec range in the step of 50nsec.
  • Controller shall be capable to scan the 50nsec duration pulse data and response also will be high speed.

    The AM65 looks to be a good option for you based on the summary of requirements. To confirm further on different attributes we'll need more information, in particular what communications protocols are required over the network. The AM65 offers the ability to support different communications protocols over the PRU-ICSSG interfaces (3 instances, two MAC ports each). For the digital IO, there are a large number supported at the SoC level, and depending on the high-speed requirements, you can control from R5F or from within a PRU-ICSSG subsystem.

    Time synchronization support is throughout the architecture. See https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/spracp7 for some details here.

    The analog inputs may require some external circuitry. There are two ADCs on the AM65, each supporting 8 inputs.

    One reference as well, is to look at the https://www.ti.com/processors/sitara-arm/applications/grid-infrastructure.html page. We do not yet have AM65 reference included, but there are some good resources here.
