[FAQ] Windows CE6 support / WinCE BSP Support

Part Number: AM3354
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DM3730

Hi Team,

The customer wants to use Windows CE6 on AM3354.

AM3354 is supported by Windows CE6?

Does the CE6 compiler supports AM3354?

Do you have any documents for it?

Thanks and Best regards,

Kuerbis

Update August 7, 2024: a new version of this FAQ with the wiki pages attached is here:

  • Hello Kuerbis,

TI does not currently offer Windows CE6 support on AM335x. By that I mean, if the customer has any questions about it, we will not be able to support them on the TI forums.

HOWEVER: It looks like TI has partnered with third party companies in the past to enable Windows CE6 and CE7 on AM335x. Please reference wiki pages WinCE-BSP ARM-A8 Quick Start Guide and WinCE  . I also found website PathPartner Technology Delivers Microsoft Windows® CE 6.x BSP on AM335X. Note that all of these partnerships are from 2012 & 2013, so I am not sure if those third parties are still offering CE6 on AM335x. Also note that AM35x is a different product than AM335x.

A note on wiki pages: the wiki is going away at the end of 2020, and the WinCE pages will not be migrated to a new platform. So if your customer is interested in any information contained on those pages, I suggest downloading a local PDF copy before the pages disappear.

    Regards,

    Nick

  • Hi Nick

  • Converting this post to a general Windows CE (WinCE) BSP FAQ:

CAN YOU HELP ME WITH A BSP QUESTION?
There are old WinCE BSP for parts like AM17x, AM18x, AM335x, AM35xx, OMAP35xx, DM3730. As of March 2021, TI does not offer support for BSP releases on those parts.

WHERE DID THE BSP WIKI DOCUMENTATION GO?
The Processors wiki went offline January 2021. You can find copies of the BSP pages that went offline in post Flickering Splash Screen. Please note the disclaimers on that post.

CAN I STILL DOWNLOAD BSPs FOR PARTS?
This list was compiled on March 2021. I might have missed some BSP download locations. Also, there is no guarantee that the software is still available in these locations when you read this post:

    AM335x:
Official BSP released through third party Adeneo Embedded (now called Witekio). See Witekio's Board Support Packages.
Community BSP released at BeagleboneBSP. Note that this page is slated to be removed from the web July 2021. Developer's blog here.

    OMAP-L13x/AM17x/AM18x:
    TI hosted download is here

    OMAP35x/AM35x/DM3730:
TI hosted download is here (and also here).
Community BSPs released at BeagleboardBSP and gumstixBSP. Note that this page is slated to be removed from the web July 2021.

    Regards,

    Nick
