TMDSIDK574: in am572x can IPU start separately from A15?

Hi!
I about am572x.

The Dual Cortex-M4 is present in PRU-ICSS and separately in 2 IPU (IPU1 and IPU2):

Acording to the AM572x datasheet, the input clock name of IPU is IPUx_GFCLK in PRCM.
And in "Clock Tree Tool" program, the IPU have 2 modes:
1. auto mode.
2. disable mode.

The question 1:
Does this mean that after power is on:
- the mode is Auto.
- the IPU clock is on.

The Question 2:
can IPU start separately from A15?

Please help.

Hello,

The IPU is not enabled by default in hardware. Software on the A15 is used to bootload the IPU and release the IPU from reset to begin code execution. You should use the TI provided SDK to do this.

Is the fastest way to load and run the M4 firmware - "Early Boot"?

What is your end usecase ? Are you just looking to boot M4 ?

What about the OS on Cortex ?

Vineet, hi!

The A15 runs a HLOS Linux RT (from ti-processor-sdk-linux-rt-am57xx-evm-06.xx) with simultaneously loads the firmware to M4.

The M4 firmware is RTOS.

Hi Aleksey,

With the SDK early boot with IPU firmware loaded as early as at the SPL stage should be real quick.
What is your timing requirement?

Hi Keerthy,

I need to to download and run the M4 firmware in am572x less than 1 second.

In sdk 6.03 there are u-boot version 2019.01.
Acording to the:
processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Early_Boot_and_Late_Attach_in_Linux
I have to download and install patch from:
processors.wiki.ti.com/.../File:0001-u-boot-configs-Enable-configs-for-Early-boot-support.zip
but there is bad url-link of zip-patch:
Not Found
The requested URL /images/e/e9/0001-u-boot-configs-Enable-configs-for-Early-boot-support.zip
was not found on this server.
