Problems programming the C6745

I have some problems and doubts with the hardware of the target that i`m doing for the TMS320C6745 (TMX320C6745PTP3 , 176-pin TQFP). In the JTAG configuration of the Emulator XDS510USB PLUS, there are two pins: EMU0 and EMU1 that must be connected with the pins EMU0 and EMU1 of the DSP, the problem is that the C6745 doesn´t have this pins, so, what do i do with this pins?

What oscilator frequency do i have to use with the C6745? (I already have a 24MHz oscilator with 2 capacitors of 18pF)

Is the /reset pin(146) necessary to programm the dsp?

What is the core power supply (CVDD) for? It is necessary for the programming?

What is the minimum hardware that i need to programm the dsp (Jtag pins, oscilator?, VDD)?

Hi Laura,

The EMU0 pin is available in the DSP. You can pull EMU1 up at the JTAG connector.

Have you seen the example of design at the spectrum digital web site?

You can find the schematics for C6747 there and it is very similar to C6745.

Yes, i have seen that example of design, but if you check the datasheet

on page 20 there is a pin map of the dsp and in that pin map i can`t find the EMU0 pin. There is a EMU0 pin in the BGA version, but in the Pin Map (PTP) there isn´t.

Using an oscillator you can input between 12-30MHz so 24MHz should be fine. See p64 of the datasheet.

I'm not sure I understand your question, but yes the RESET pin is needed. The RESET pin must be asserted while the device powers up and must remain deasserted in order to use the device. All these timings are also in the datasheet on pages 61-63.

CVdd powers the DSP core. Without it the DSP is not 'on.' As a result it is necessary for programming.

This is hard to describe, but the DSP needs to be powered up and the emulation logic must be in a 'good' state. This includes Core voltage, I/O voltage, valid reset/power sequencing, power decoupling, etc. If the device is not brought up properly connection/programming/run-time issues are sure to pop up.

The EMU0 pin on the connector should be pulled-up. Confirmed with factory.

So this pins of the JTAG doesn´t have to be connected to the DSP right?
