TMS320C6747: About EMIFB for communicationg to FPGA

Genius 5840 points
Part Number: TMS320C6747
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6713B,

Hello.

My current application is using TMS320C6713B and using 32bit EMIF for communicating to FPGA.

If we change to TMS320C6747, can we replace 32bit EMIF in C6713B to EMIFB in C6747 and make the communication C6747 and FPGA?

In datasheet of  TMS320C6747, EMIFB seems to support only SDRAM.

I don't see if C6747 can communicate with FPGA by EMIFB.

U-SK

  • Hi U-SK

You are correct EMIFB only supports SDRAM.

EMIFA supports async interface , and will be typically used for interfacing to async memories or FPGAs etc (similar to the EMIF capability on older devices)

If customer was used to 32bit FPGA interface, the data rates will be lower for the 16 bit interface on EMIFA.

other options for FPGA connectivity are

    1) UHPI

    2) Serial ports like McASP/McBSP

For all of these there are no specific hardware and software drivers available, but customers have used these
