AFE7444EVM: What is [Init. Script], [Get RX/TX Dig path and JESD Config] button purpose?

Part Number: AFE7444EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE7444

Hi Ti Support Team,

At first I want to notice you guys that I'm tired at configuration AFE7444.

I wasted time almost a month to figure out correct configuration custom AFE7444 board.

I feel very bad at AFE7444 development experience because AFE7444 document is worse than every I saw,

Information is differ by version also not specific, even programmer guide doesn't help me a lot.

Final datasheet is even doesn't updated even PG 3.0 came out.

Also AFE7444EVM GUI tool has limited configuration I think...

Sorry for my sigh but I'm tired at configuration.

My Configuration goal is use External Clock (8.64 Ghz)

By the way I'm trying to log everything to analyze the sequence of AFE7444 set up.

So I used 'Advanced' tab to log everyting.

Even I turned [Seq. Dump] to 'On for PG3.0', I can't get any log info when click  [Init. Script], [Get RX/TX Dig path and JESD Config] buttons.

The [LMK Config], [Run Complete Statup Sequence], or etc buttons does log well.

Could you guys give me any advice or provide any register setting information also purpose of that buttons? ( [Init. Script], [Get RX/TX Dig path and JESD Config] )

Second question is how to correct get the E-FUSE LOADING DONE(TRAFFIC CONTROL page C2 reigster) register value?

could you guys give me very specific sequence?

The programmers guide doesn't helped me a lot.

Below link is my previous question that is question for e-fuse setting.

  • Hi Yeonyeol,

Did you test the mode you want to use on an AFE7444EVM previously before building a custom board? Only the modes mentioned in Table 172, section 7.4 of the datasheet, are supported by the AFE which is why the GUI only has these modes.

I have tried the commands that you shared for the e-fuse settings on an AFE7444EVM with external 8.64GHz clock and I am able to get a value of 15 from register C2. There should be no problems using that sequence on your custom board.

The final version of the AFE7444 is PG3.0 and all documentation supports it. All production parts will be PG3.0.

In regards to logging the register settings, the Init Script and Rx/Tx Dig Path buttons will not add any writes in the log. The 'Init. Script' button will reset the log file and initializes the background GUI processes and the 'Rx/Tx Dig Path' button reads all the GUI settings.

All writes needed to program the LMK and AFE will be generated when you press the LMK Config and Run Complete Startup Sequence buttons respectively. You should see that the log file will be updated after pressing these two button.

I have tested Mode 4 on the EVM using an external 8.64GHz clock and generated the configuration files. Please use the following link to download the two config files, LMK and AFE. To use the config files go to the Low Level View tab in the GUI and load the LMK config file followed by the AFE config file. These two files were tested on an EVM using an external clock of 8.64GHz.
