AFE7950: What does it mean 'Selecting nyquist zone'?

Part Number: AFE7950

Hi,

Regarding to TRM, I can select Nyquist Zone of ADC by setting register 70h.

1>

I am not clear what is happen if I select nyquist zone 2.

Does 'selecting nyquist zone 2' mean that BPF for nyquist zone 2 will be applied before ADC sampling? Thus there is no need to put BFP outside?

2>

If my application use nyquist zone 7, which registers should I set?

Regards,

  • Hi Yoonsun,

When a particular Nyquist zone is selected, ADC performance is optimized for that Nyquist zone. There's no BPF internal to the AFE. It has to be implemented externally.

The AFE should be programmed using log file auto-generated by EVM control software. The software automatically sets the Nyquist zone based on NCO set in the config file. So you don't need to manually set this register value.

    Regards,
