Hi Experts,

Good day.

I use the AFE7900 EVM.

If my ADC has a minimum full-scale power of -2.9dBm and a maximum full-scale power of 16 dBm. Does this mean that the power of my input signal can only be between -2.9dBm and 16dBm?

I would like to confirm if this means that if I use an 800MHz signal input, its power can only be between -2.9dBm and 16.7dBm. Additionally, what does the full-scale range of DAC output represent, the maximum power of the output signal? Isn't this determined by the signal input sent to the DAC?

Please advise.

    Hi Josel,

    The minimum full-scale input power spec is referring to the minimum power required at the AFE input pins in order to reach full scale in the ADC with the DSA set to 0. This means that  if your input was a 800MHz signal the power can be up to -2.9dBm at the device pins before getting to full-scale, with DSA set to 0.

    The MAX full scale input power spec is referring to the max input that can be applied to the AFE without damaging the AFE, no input should be higher than this value regardless of DSA setting. 

    The Max Full Scale Output Power spec is referring to the max output power the DAC can achieve at different frequencies when sending a full scale input to the DAC.
