AFE7950EVM: jesd204 loopback mode

Part Number: AFE7950EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TSW14J58EVM, , AFE7950

hi

We plan to purchase and test afe7950evm and TSW14j58EVM and use them in connection with xilinx evm in the future.

I purchased afe7950evm to use in connection with xilinx evm.

First, we will try to extract parameters using afe7950evm's jesd204B loopback mode.

I followed TI's PPT document "AFE7950EVM in JESD Loopback Mode", but an error occurred on page 6: step3.

For reference, the tool version is 2.0.5.
Lattle framework version is 5.7.2.

Thank you in advance for your reply.

  • Hi Konju,

This error points to a potentail issue with the power. Can you confirm that the power supply for the AFE is set to 5V with a current limit of 5A? Also, what is the status of the Power Good LEDs D5-D8?

    Regards,

    David Chaparro

  • Dear David Chaparro Thank you for your reply.

I followed the h/w init procedure and checked as follows.

    Hardware Setup process.
    1) Power Supply Setup (j18: 5.3V, 4A Max)
    2) D9 LED ‘ON’ OK
    3) Current (550-650mA) = 630mA OK
    4) USB- Mini-B (j19), USB PWR LED (D10) 'ON' (red) ok
    5) D5(1.8v) D6(1.2V) D7(0.9) D9(3.3 lmk) 'ON' OK

Is there anything else I need to check?

Thanks for the advice at the time.

  • Dear David Chaparro.

With your advice, this problem has been resolved.
There was a problem with the supplied DC cable.
I used a thicker cable and configured it without reducing the voltage, and it worked normally.

    Thanks for your help.
