AFE8000: Expected Current Consumption Breakout

Part Number: AFE8000

Hi,

Can you please breakdown the typical current consumption of each rail, for MODE-1 (8T8R-no F)?

For example - for group 1A (DVDD + VDDT), the total typical current consumption is 5890 [mA].

- DVDD consumes X [mA] of total 5890 [mA].

- VDDT consumes Y [mA] of total 5890 [mA].

Making such a breakdown for the other groups would be welcome.

Best regards,

Avihay.

  • Hi Avihay,

I will check with our team on if we have this data available. It is possible that we do not have the current consumption per rail as we typically recommend putting the voltage rails into groups.

For the AFE8000 we have recommended power supply groups and sub-groups where each supply group typically shares a voltage regulator and the sub-groups are isolated by ferrite beads. This is why the current consumption is done per supply group.

The supply groups are given in section 10.1 of the datasheet. An example of this can be seen on our AFE8000EVM.

  • Hi Avihay,

As the power rails are tied to a common supply point we are not able to measure current separately. We recommend following the power supply groups given and using either the data provided in the datasheet or that measured on the EVM, using the same power supply groups, for a reference on the current consumption.
