DAC38RF83: DAC Temperature

Part Number: DAC38RF83

Tool/software:

I find the temperature reading low for a junction temperature. When I query the DAC38RF83 register 0x06, the TEMPDATA field returns a value around 42C. Is it normal that the temperature is so low when the DAC transmits? Do I need to apply an equation to get the true temperature in Celsius? I take this measurement in a controlled environment at 20C. Thank you!

  • Hi Daniel,

The temperature sensor is measuring the junction temperature. You can estimate the junction temperature through the following variables.

Refer to the app note in note (1) for detail

  • Hello Kang,

Register 0x06 (TEMPDATA) gives a result of 22C at the power-up of the unit and 42C after a few minutes and remains at this value whether the DAC transmits or not. Does this value correspond to Tj? In this case and according to the documentation Tj = Ta + (Roja x Power) where Roja equals 25C/W. I want to know if this is a normal behavior for temperature as I would have expected large variation when the DAC is in operation or not?
