AFE7071: will this support only I- channel input

Part Number: AFE7071

Tool/software:

in AFE7071 expects Interleaved I-Q data for the QMC to operate. the sync is done by IQ_Flag input.

in the design the input has only real data. So if only I -data is given without Q data , what could be done to get the DAC ouput with acceptable distortions?

  • Hello,

This will work just fine. As you have a real signal however you will have both upper and lower sideband images after mixing if you use the included up-converter.

There are two ways to do this from a data input perspective.

    1. Set Q = I. You will need to ensure that sqrt(I^2 + Q^2) < 2^14 (Basically ensure the I/Q vector is within the unit circle). This essentially sets I and Q at 45 degrees.

    2. Set Q = 0. This sets I and Q phase to 0 degrees.

Any type of QMC correction will also have no effect as this is not a Quadrature signal.

    Hope this helps,

    Matt
