AFE7950EVM: AFE7950EVM

Part Number: AFE7950EVM

Tool/software:

Hi

I Have the AFE7950EVM+TSW14J57revE.

I have Latte tool to configure the AFE board and HDSC Pro tool to configure TSW board.
I tried to configure the AFE with Latte script using the existing one, J58_64b66b_S3____.py, but with paramenter "setupParams.skipFPGA = 1 failde and give errors related the FPGA.
"Unable to write to FPGA etc etc."

Why cant bypass the HDSC PRO tool and use skipFPGA = 1?

  • Hi Paolo,

Please note that the error you are seeing is because that scripts, J58_64b66b_S3___.py, is for the TSW14J58 only. The TSW14J57 only supports 8b10b encoding so we have other scripts that can be used with it.

For testing with the TSW14J57 our recommendation is to follow the guides in the "AFE79xxEVM_TSW14J57_BringupGuide", which can be found in the AFE79xx Secure site. In this guide it will show how to bringup the AFE using the 'S1_OnboardClk_RX_250M_TX_FB_500M' script. Please follow the guides in this folder and you should be able to bringup the AFE.

  • Hi David

this means that with TSW14J57 we can only achieve 16Gbps and use JESD type B only.
    Is it correct?

If my goal is RefClk 245.76MHz, Fadc 2457.6MHz, Fdac 2457.6*4MHz, BW 600MHz I cant achieve this 600MHz?

  • Hi Paolo,

Yes, the TSW14J57 can only support JESD204B and a max lane rate of approximately 15Gbps.

It will depend on the number of channels and the LMFS that you choose. If you limit the number of channels to 2 it may be possible to test it on the TSW14J57.
