AFE7950-SP: AFE7950-SP

Part Number: AFE7950-SP

Tool/software:

Hi,

does the AFE7950-SP support decimation of the ADC-data,
e.g. reduction of bit-resolution from 14bit downto 10bit and so forth?

Thankd for the answer

BR

  • Hi BR,

The AFE7950-SP supports decimation, the output of the ADCs go to the DDC blocks, consisting of a complex mixer followed by decimation block
to reduce the sample rate of the output data. For further information please see section 6.3.2.6 of the datasheet.

In regard to resolution of the ADC, Resolution of RF DAC and ADC is 14-bits (real samples). But before interpolation and after decimation, SNR is higher due to bandpass filters in DUC and DDC. So 16-bit complex samples are used for baseband data. The AFE also supports a mode with 12-bit complex samples.
