AFE7950: Internal Circuitry for FB2TDD Pin AFE7950IALK

Part Number: AFE7950

Tool/software:

Hello TI Team,

With respect to AFE7950IALK, the FBTDD2 pin is connected to RF_OUT?

As we see space grade schematic, this pin is not connected to RF_OUT hence it has to be pulled low in design. (Please check the attached snap).

But since the AFE7950 has multiple EVMs, it has been not the case in other designs, FBTDD2 pin can be controlled by FPGA GPIO except for the space grade design.

Kindly suggest exactly what has to be followed for the AFE7950IALK

  • Hello TI team,

    Pls respond here.

  • Hi Garima,

The AFE has many GPIO pins that can be configured to support any of the supported GPIO functions, one of which is FBTDD2. If the specific pin is not connected, such as on the board mentioned above, then you can assign that function to a GPIO pin that is connected to the FPGA.

If you require control of this GPIO function then you can connect it to your FPGA or assign it to a GPIO that is connected to your FPGA, please note that the GPIO function can also be overridden using SPI writes so it is not required to connect if you would like to save pins. The only downside to using SPI commands is that you the amount of time it takes will be dependent on how long it takes for all the register writes.
