AFE7769D: Optimal peak detect window length and peak min separation settings for multi-carrier configurations

Part Number: AFE7769D

How do you program the peak detect window length and peak min separation parameters when dealing with multi-carriers? Would the setting be based on the occupied bandwidth, the instantanous bandwidth, the minimum bandwidth of the carriers or something else?

  • Hi Ron,

The optimal values are 2/(min_BW). If the minimum carrier BW is 10MHz, then the minimum window length will be 200ns. Since 1LSB = 10ns, you must use the value of 20. This same value should be applied for min_separation as well.

  • I saw that note but wasn't sure. So, if I have a 10 MHz carrier and a 100 MHz carrier, I should set it to 20. Will this lead to a degradation in performance for the 100 MHz carrier? We accidently tried using the value of 20 on a 100 MHz carrier and it did not perform as well. This suggests that adding a 10 MHz carrier will improve performance.
