AFE7768D: Is there a PCN for the reason of different appearance? Will it affect usage?

Part Number: AFE7768D

Hi

The supplied materials this time consist of two different production batches: DC2427 (90 pcs) and DC2449 (90 pcs)
Upon comparing the appearance of incoming materials from two batches, significant differences were observed in the chamfering edges of the device plastic cover plates (as shown in the figure below). The DC2449 batch features rounded chamfers, whereas the DC2427 batch has beveled chamfers.

Please confirm:
1. Regarding the reasons for the aforementioned issues, we kindly request the original manufacturer to provide explanatory documents regarding the differences in appearance mentioned above;
2. Whether there are PCN changes between batches, and whether 3D has been notified in advance according to the prescribed process;
3. Please provide the appearance standards for this model across different production cycles (including the definition of chamfering in the datasheet/original factory inspection standards);
4. Please have the original manufacturer assess whether the aforementioned differences (changes) have any impact on the performance/reliability of the device.

  • Hello,

    From applications perspective, the edge of the metal lid should not impact the AFE7768D silicon performance nor the thermal performance. However, please allow me to double check with the internal team to confirm and get back to you.

  • Hello Anson

    I have confirmed internally:

    The metal lid on top of the AFE7768D device is for power dissipation. The shape of the metal lid will not impact the thermal performance. The customer will see the same thermal ratings (in the datasheet). Moreover, the metal lid will not impact the AFE7768D silicon performance as well.
