TRF371125 semi automatic DC cancellation algorithm

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TRF371125

In the TRF371125, is it possible to activate the internal DC cancellation mechanism and when it finishes, to read the internal DC current IDACs (its not clear in datasheet if reading is possible) and afterwards to program the internal registers through SPI when needed?

It can be useful when using frequency hopping, to calibrate once on each receiving frequency, storing IDAC values in a look-up table and afterwards to program the IDACs (with the saved values) when hopping to next frequency.

Thanks,  Victor Koren

  • Yes, this is possible. The TRF3711 supports readback on all of the registers. The register values for the DC offset values can be read back , stored, and loaded for different configurations if desired.

Check out this app note: www.ti.com/.../slwa057. It discusses the DC offset calibration. I have found the DC offset is sensitive to frequency and temperature variations. Depending on your timing requirements and accuracy requirements, it may be beneficial to re-cal on each frequency hop.
