DUC Evaluation card (GC101 & GC5016)

Hi

I am trying to run the DUC TI-eval board but for some reason it is always showing a single tone output.

For the standard projects provided in the GCStudio tool also, it shows a single tone output.Attached is the INPUT/OUTPUT plot of default project available in GCStudio

The switch settings are OK, LED 6,7,10 and 2 are illuminated.

  • Hello,

In the picture you provided, it appears that the GC5016 DUC input is a constant, and the mixer is set close to 0.  Another possibility is that the GC5016 daughterboard

switches are not set for the proper mode (DDC - (port CD out or port D TDM out 1,2,4,5,6,7 ON), (port AB out - 3,5,6,7 ON); DUC port AB out 3,5,6,7 ON)

Another possibility is that the hardware or GC Studio software are not functioning.

I would separate the Input Spectrum Graph from the  Output Spectrum Graph, they are not usually at the same sample rate.  Placing the input spectrum, and output spectrum on separate graphs will provide for the correct units.  If the input graph spectrum matches the desired bandwidth, the input peak level is normally -1dbfs for 16 bits.

Sometimes rebuilding a project from the new Project wizard can help, a partially converted project may not function correctly.

Note: If you use the tdm mode(tinf_tdm = true) , the Input parameters sck_div, tinf_fs_dly can change the Baseband timing.  The timing is adjusted through settings the Parameters, GC5016 Sync Parameters, SIA to 1st Frame Sync delay from 0 to (interpolation ratio - 1).

Sample Wimax GC Studio GC5016 DUC project.

If we run an example configuration, we can check the hardware, GC Studio software, and an example response.

The GC5016 SEK GC101 and GC5016 daughterboard can have several configurations.  The switching and user configuration need to match.

In order to check the hardware, there is a sample project under the My GCStudio Projects -> GC5016 -> DUC -> NEW_SW_WIMAX

       Load the WME_10M_1xin_8xout_SplitIQ.gcproj

click on the GC5016 box, note the mode ab. and mode cd are transmit; and the splitIQAB and splitIQCD are true

double click on the GC5016 box, the lower level diagram will be displayed

       click on the Input Formatter

The different input modes are controlled by tinf_tdm, tinf_cmplex, tinf_pariq.  In this example we use

       non TDM, parallel IQ.

If you run this case, and you get the picture in the folder, please rebuild your project..

In rebuilding your project, if you use the TDM input mode, (Input Formatter tinf_tdm = true),  you will need to calibrate the interleaved IQ input

See Parameters -> GC5016 Sync Parameters -> set delay from SIA from 0 to (interpolation ratio - 1), to find the value where the TDM input matches your desired

      spectrum, and demodulates.

  • 0830.DUC_Project_Wimax.zipHi

I installed the GCStudio on a new system an ran the default project "NEW_SW_WIMAX" but I observed the same output as attached earlier. It seems the software issue is not there.  There maybe some issue with the GC101 & GC5016 hardware SEK board. 7801.DUC_Project_Wimax.zip

Could you please help me run the attached input data on the attached Wimax-DUC project to obtain an output file. It would be a great help.

Actually we are trying to configure CFR so we need the DUC output to use in  the Matlab file for CFR threshold register calculation.

  • Hello,

There is a baseband file of 0 length.  The baseband input needs to be a two column signed decimal white space delimited file.

The GC5016 input should be a full frame in length.

Please also send the PFIR tap file, so I can rebuild the project file.

    Regards,

    Radio Joe

  • Hi

Plz find the input file, project file and filter tap file.

help generate the output data so that we can use it  as input to CFR eval board to calculate the threshold detect values6012.DUC_Project_Wimax_18March_2011.zip

  • Hello Ruchi,

The IQ file that you sent was higher than the allowed full scale.  The GC Studio project will clip these samples.

The GC Studio project for DUC TDM, had the GC Studio GC5016 sync parameters not correctly set.

I have included the corrected project, and the IQ output file.

    Regards,

    Radio Joe
