MMWCAS-RF-EVM: TIDEP-01012 problem

Part Number: MMWCAS-RF-EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDEP-01012, AWR2243, AWR1243

Hi team

Good day

My customer want go get some help:

we bought some TIDEP-01012 and we observed some linear drifts over the distance which can be explained with a frequency shift caused by the crystal oscillators.

what the typical (meteo-induced) drift (e.g. ppm/°C) or variation (e.g. +/- ppm) of the quartz oscillator implemented in the AWR1243 and AWR2243 is?

In the AWR1243 factsheet it is mentioned that the crystal frequency tolerance is +/-200ppm but it is not mentioned what is the drift/variation.

Regards

Aosker

  • Hello Aosker,

The temperature frequency drift  depends on the 40Mhz Xtal used on the board, not om the Oscillator implemented in AWR1243. You can get that from the Xtal manufacterer.

Typically the frequency drift should not have any impact on  the radar distance measurements , are   you looking at the frequency drift of the Tx output ?

  • customer reply:

Sorry, I was not clear in my first question.

I am looking for the crystal which can cause a frequency drift on the TX output. In the documents I can not find out which ones are used and can therefore not find the manufacturer of it.

Thank you for your help and best regards.

  • Hello Aosker,

Any frequency drift on the crystal will show up on the TX output as well. We use CX3225SA40000D0PTWCC XTAL part on our EVMs, this has a 200ppm frequency error across the -40C to +150C temperature range.
