TMP117: linearity

Hello,

We want to used TMP117 (YBG) as reference sensor. We sent five units to certified laboratory for verification. Each of five had increased error value at 20°C, 30°C or 37°C (see attached pic with results).

Before we send them back to re-verification I would like to make sure this error doesn't comes directly from TMP117. Is it possible that for certain temperature range the sensor may have significantly bigger errors?

Hi Aleksander,

The result you show, highlighted in yellow, is not normal. I would not expect this deviation; our internal data certainly doesn't support it.

Can you tell me more about how you use this device? If we can't find an explanation why your setup causes the error, you should submit a return. www.ti.com/.../customer-returns.html

Hi Ren,

The sensor is placed in 3mm steel pipe, sealed with resin, connected with 2 metres wire to battery operating module with BT communication. Temperature reading is the only function of the device.

Does mechanical stress could lead to increased errors?

Hi Aleksander,

Mechanical stress causes an offset across the full temperature range. It wouldn't appear in such a narrow temperature range. That's what is so off about your report.

Regarding the 2m wiring, have you checked for communication errors?
