The diagram is a 3 Tx / 4 Rx configuration which results in 12 distinct virtual antenna channels for detection. Is there a different 'linear' antenna configuration you are referencing?

In your defined "linear antenna", the antennas are in one dimension, so you can only get azimuth angle. Our xwr1642Boost are having this type of antenna. You can look into the implementation detail inside SDK OOB demo located at: C:\ti\mmwave_sdk_xx_xx_xx_xx\packages\ti\demo\xwr16xx if you download the latest SDK release. ID FFT can be considered to use. FFT size can be set to 64 or other size based on your angle accuracy requirement.

In your defined "nonlinear antenna", the antenna are spaced in both azimuth and elevation direction, so you will be able to get both azimuth and elevation angle. Our xwr1443Boost/xwr6843ISK EVM are all using this type of antenna. You can look into the implementation details inside SDK OOB demo located at: C:\ti\mmwave_sdk_xx_xx_xx_xx\packages\ti\demo\xwr68xx. For this type of 2D antenna, in general 2D FFT can be considered to use, FFT size will depend on your angle accuracy requirement and available memory. But for this specific antenna, the angle estimation is done differently.
