AWR2243: Vs. AWR1243

Hi,

Previously, our customers used the AWR1243P to develop their products, but are considering the AWR2243P for new developments.

Can we use the software assets of the AWR1243P in the same way as the AWR2243P?
There seems to be a slight difference when comparing the register configurations.

Please let me know if there is any guidance for changing the device.

Hello Hiroshi-San,

You customer can use same AWR1243 software with AWR2243 as well with minor change.

There is slight difference in boot up sequence. (explains in this doc https://software-dl.ti.com/ra-processors/esd/MMWAVE-DFP-2G/02_02_02_01/exports/mmwave_dfp_user_guide.pdf)

Most of the APIs are same b/w AWR1243 and AWR2243. Although AWR2243 few additional feature in terms of existing mmWaveLink API parameters.

If customer is going to order now, they will get AWR2243 ES1.1 which is production worthy silicon version.

which contains mmwavelink and device patch files.

Release note explains high level of difference from AWR1243.
