IWR6843ISK: Work environments

Part Number: IWR6843ISK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MMWAVE-STUDIO

Hi, I'm interested in purchasing the IWR6843ISK-ODS board.

I'm budget tight and looking for the simplest package from which I can see the behavior of the 60GHz mmWave sensor radar.

Therefore, I am interested in purchasing the IWR6843ISK-ODS board only without add-ons (boards or components).

I have some important questions before purchasing:

1. Can I see the behavior and results of the mmWave sensor radar in MMWAVE-STUDIO? If not, which app can I use to see the results of the sensor on my PC?

2. At what values can IWR6843ISK-ODS board operation be controlled? (Purchasing the IWR6843ISK-ODS only).

3. According to the text, there are standard codes that the package comes with, how can I operate the board in the simplest way without developing a special code?

Summary - It is not clear to me which work environments can be used, which values can be controlled, and which standard codes can be used.

I would appreciate your help.

Thanks and regards,

Lee

  • Hello Lee,

It will help to know what your intended application is, as there are a couple different EVMs that are similarly priced but the antenna's have different specifications.  Please see the below info for the details on the EVM varieties.

The general answer to all your questions is yes, you can operate the standalone EVM without any additional HW or SW development. The Industrial toolbox has prebuilt binary firmware files and full GUI visualizers for looking at the output of the code. You will not be able to connect to MMWAVE-STUDIO, but this is only needed for looking at the low level radar signals, not the visualized output. Please see the TI resource explorer for more information.
