AWR2243: Question about the RX/TX/LODIST calibration data got by RF INIT

Part Number: AWR2243

Hi,

In SPRACV2, it mentioned to save RX/TX/LODIST calibration data got by RF INIT with AWR_CAL_DATA_SAVE_SB.

In mmWave-Radar-Interface-Control.pdf of mmwave_dfp_02_02_02_01, I found AWR_CAL_DATA info, but I only got the size of RX_RF_GAIN_CAL_DATA/TX_POWER_CAL_DATA. No detail about the data structure of RX_RF_GAIN_CAL_DATA/TX_POWER_CAL_DATA. And no info about LODIST.

I suppose I should find info like RX gain/TX gain/LODSIT tempLUT.

Would you pls help?

  • Hello Chris,

Let me refer to the relevant documentation and understand your concern first. I will get back to you with a response by next week.

    Regards,

    Ishita

  • Hello Chris,

    Thankyou for your patience.

Yes, you're right. All the calibration data saved or restored for TX/Rx or LODIST is in the form of a Look up table.

I hope this resolves your concern and get you started.

    Regards,

    Ishita

  • Ishita,

Thanks for your confirm. Then where can I find the details of these LUT?

  • Hello Chris,

The mmWave ICD document specifies details on the Temp LUTs.. You can refer to the GET and SET TEMPLUT APIs to get the structure of the Temperature LUTs used by the firmware.

  • Ishita,

In table of AWR_CAL_DATA contents, I saw below info of RX_RF_GAIN_CAL_DATA/TX_POWER_CAL_DATA., but no similar info of LODIST CAL DATA. Where can I find the CAL data info for LODSIST

In RX_GAIN_TEMPLUT info, the size of RX_GAIN_CODE is 19 bytes. It doesn't match the 8 bytes in CAL_DATA. Same issue for TX GAIN TEMPLUT.

Did I miss anything? Would you pls help to check again?

  • Hello Chris,

Thankyou for attaching the snippets, I understand your concern now. Let me check this internally and I will get back to you on this before the end of this week.

    Ishita

  • Hello Chris,

I had a conversation with the internal team and I think I mixed up two different things here. Sorry for the confusion caused on my part.

The CAL data file that is saved during RF INIT has some internal measurement data during bootup time. The contents of the file are mentioned in the ICD (refer to “AWR_CAL_DATA contents” table in the ICD). The bytes denoting the Tx cal, Rx cal, LODIST CAL are mentioned there. I believe this is something you already know now.

The second part is the Temp LUTs. These are NOT a part of the calibration file. The Rx and Tx gain LUT are derived by the firmware based on the CAL data. This can be read back using the “AWR_RX_GAIN_TEMPLUT_GET_SB” and “AWR_TX_GAIN_TEMPLUT_GET_SB” APIs. The LODIST LUT values are fixed in the Firmware and will always remain same for a particular device. This LUT itself cannot be readback by the user but he can force the LUT index using the Run Time CALIB API. This includes Rx gain LUT index, TX gain LUT index, LODIST index.

Hope this clarified things for you.

    Sorry for the the confusion.

    Regards,

    Ishita

  • Ishita,

AWR_CAL_DATA contents” table in the ICD only shows the bytes size of CAL data, and no more info.

So customer just needs to use AWR CAL DATA RESTORE SB to restore the CAL data got by AWR_CAL_DATA_SAVE_SB and no need to know more detail, right?

  • Yes, that is correct Chris.

The data is restored in the save format in which it is saved in the first place.

    Regards,

    Ishita
