PGA460: About Time Decoupling and Temperature Decoupling

Hi Team,

We have two questions.

We would to know the difference between " Time Decoupling " and " Temperature Decoupling " and effectiveness.

Because, we are considering which method to use.

Could you please let us know the performance comparison data if you have any information?

[Q2]

We are evaluating PGA460PSM-EVM.

However, we can’t find QDECPL on Schematics.

We understand that QDECPL is not implemented on EVM.

Is my understanding correct?

If yes, can I connect QDECPL to DECPL pin?

Hi Hide,

We do not have any performance comparison data for time decoupling and temperature decoupling. These are optional features that you can use if you find that your system is temperature or noise sensitive. The benefit of using time decoupling or temperature decoupling would depend on your system (especially the selected transducer). The following test provides more information on determining whether your system could greatly benefit from temperature decoupling:

You are correct that the decoupling feature is not added to the PGA460PSM-EVM. The PGA460PSM-EVM was designed to fit a small form factor. Since the decoupling feature is optional, it was removed to save space. For a new design, you can connect Q_DECPL to the DECPL pin as shown in Figure 39 or Figure 40 of the datasheet; however, there could be issues if you try to do this on the PSM EVM since the capacitor and transformer are already directly connected to GND.

Hi Hide-san,

Thank you for informing us of this. We made a small change to the application note that caused it to not appear online. The issue is now fixed, so it should appear online again tomorrow or the day after.
