Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PGA460, PGA460PSM-EVM, BOOSTXL-PGA460
Hi all.
I am testing a device using the GUI of the PGA460-Q1 EVM, but I cannot optimize the echo-back reception.
Is there a recommended procedure to adjust the parameters of the PGA460?
This processor is powerful, but there are so many parameters that I can't decide what to set.
My intended use:
I want to use a single transducer to detect the presence of a car in a parking lot.
I believe that parking sensors in cars attach the sensor to the bumper of the car and detect the distance to the wall.
I would like to do just the opposite, attach the sensor to the wall and detect the distance to the incoming vehicle (or the absence of the vehicle).
In this case, the maximum distance to be detected is only about 5 meters, and since the object to be detected is a car, there is no need to detect small objects.
The transducer will be a UTR-1440K-TT-R and the electronic circuit design will follow the PGA460PSM-EVM.
Current situation:
When the TVG gain is reduced, the echo back cannot be received.
When the TVG gain is increased, many peaks appear in the echo back and the measurement value varies greatly.
The threshold is set to a little higher than the background noise level as a temporary setting.
We believe that it will be difficult to adjust the threshold if the echo back does not become a valid and clean waveform.
Installing the transducer:
This is somewhat different from adjusting parameters, but would it be better to install a simple enclosure around the transducer like the BOOSTXL-PGA460?
As a test case, I made a tube out of a plastic bottle to surround the transducer, and it seemed to make it easier to get peaks.
Thank you very much for your time.
