TMP464: Accuracy

Part Number: TMP464

Hi team,

My customer is considering to use the TMP464. Could you please help with the questions below?

1. Is the T_REMOTE listed in the datasheet the ADC accuracy of the TMP464 itself?

2. There is a formula for calculating T_ERR when a transistor with a remote transistor ideality factor η different from 1.008 is used. Does this mean that T_ERR is further shifted in addition to T_REMOTE?

Regards,

Yamaguchi

  • Hi Yamaguchi-San,

    1. Is the T_REMOTE listed in the datasheet the ADC accuracy of the TMP464 itself?

That accuracy limit is really based on the limits we determined during characterization, from real temperature readings with an external diode. Therefore the TREMOTE accuracy from the datasheet does include all error from the internal ADC, but there are also other sources of error included in that specification such as error in the current bias, or any drift due to the voltage and temperature as listed in the test conditions.

    2. There is a formula for calculating T_ERR when a transistor with a remote transistor ideality factor η different from 1.008 is used. Does this mean that T_ERR is further shifted in addition to T_REMOTE?

Yes, if the N-factor of the diode being used is different and not accounted for, there will be additional error outside the TREMOTE error from the datasheet.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
