MMWCAS-DSP-EVM: The board fails to boot up

Part Number: MMWCAS-DSP-EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MMWCAS-RF-EVM

Hello,

My group has purchased two separate MMWCAS-DSP-EVM boards (PROC055-011) along with the MMWCAS-RF-EVM (PROC054) frontend featuring the AWR2243P chips. I am following the guide mmwave_studio_cascade_user_guide.pdf in order to get it properly configured for first time use. I have flashed the TDA firmware using the instructions provided in section 4.2 of the guide. The image file I used was sdimage_3_7_1.img.xz. However, when trying to boot the EVM, one of the DSP boards results in the following output:

Failed to start Load Kernel Modules. Not Sure if that's consequential, but eventually the boot sequence gets stuck as shown in the figure below and I am unable to get to formatting the SSD per section 6 of the guide. I am of course unable to perform any data capture using mmWave studio and when pinging the device, it doesn't respond at all.

The second DSP board does not have any serial output. It doesn't seem to begin the boot process at all and none of the LEDs are illuminated on the MMWCAS-RF-EVM board when plugged into that DSP board.

My guess is reinstalling the kernel on the FPGA might help solve the issue, but I was unable to find instructions on how to do that. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

  • Hi,

Could you please check visually that the DSP board looks OK?

Could you please send us the entire log?

    Thank you

    cesar

  • Hi Cesar,

Visually the boards look fine; they are always handled with great care. Here's the full log:

  • Hi,

I have discussed this with the team.

The logs that you have provided seems to indicate that the information on the SD card is corrupted.

Can you please try another SD Card?

    Thank you

    Cesar

  • Hello,

I have tried 5 different SD cards, including the two provided by TI and none of them seemed to work. Is there anything else I can try or should we return the boards?

  • Hello User,

Thankyou for your trials on this.

Due to summer holidays, there might be a delay in our response.

We hope that's okay with you. Thankyou for your patience.

    Regards,

    Ishita

  • Hi,

    Sorry for the delay

Yes, please contact customer service to return the boards. Please refer to this e-mail thread.

    Thank you

    Cesar
