OPT3101 is the analog front end so does not have any optics. What do you mean by top layer?

I assumed that this part has a photodiode at the top, and photodiodes usually have a protective cover of Silica or some other transparent material. Are you saying that this part does not have the photodiode?

Misread the PN and thought you were asking about OPT3101. Yes OPT301 does have PD. If you alter the mold compound of the device we would not be able to guarantee any of the specs so short answer would be no.

Thanks. Yes, I understand that the specs cannot be guaranteed. That is okay with us. Our application needs the cover removed to expose the photodiode, and we have very limited options so we want to give it a shot. Would TI be able to remove the cover or would we have to do that ourselves? Happy to chat over the phone if you'd like.
