Hi，

I use MMWCAS-RF-EVM (AWR2243 cascade)and MMWCAS-DSP-EVM to display point cloud about a mound as big as a house. But, only a few sparse points. May I ask you the reason about it?

Hi,

The point cloud is composed of reflections from the environment. It is possible that the environment is not very reflective.

Have you tried to lower the CFAR threshold?

Hi,

Is the CFAR threshold you mentioned as CFAR_CASO_K0 in module_param.m? The file is CFAR_CASO_K0 = [5 3]，How much should i lower？

Hi,

I saw in the script that this value corresponds to 8dB SNR.

This is already a low threshold. Lowering it further would increase the false detections.

Let me check with systems team if it is still recommended to further lower it

Thank you，waiting for your reply. I have a question, is it because this is a clustered point cloud, so there are few point clouds, if the clustering is removed, will the original point cloud be obtained?

Hi,

No, the few point clouds are related to

reflectivity of the object

We can't change it

angular resolution in both azimuth and elevation

The cascade has good angular resolution in azimuth but not as good in elevation. So, the point cloud will be more rich in azimuth direction.

CFAR threshold

You can try to lower the treshold. However it is already small:

CFAR_CASO_K0 = [5 3] - this means that 5 is the threshold in range direction and 3 is the threshold in doppler direction (a 2D CFAR is performed).

You can try

CFAR_CASO_K0 = [4.5 2.5]; [4 2] and observe the changes
