AWR1642BOOST: I'm interested in doing some development with the AWR1642

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642, DCA1000EVM,

Hi,

Good Day. I have a customer who is working AWR1642 Boost. Please see below his query for your reference. Thank you very much.

I'm reading through the documentation for the AWR1642 booster pack, but I'm not clear on which dev tools I'm going to need

I have never done any development with TI technology before, but I'm interested in doing some development based on the AWR 1642

I was reading through the documentation for the AWR1642 booster pack, but I have some questions about what I will need

First question about the booster pack is whether it has to be connected to the launchpad or mmwave devpack to function. I want to use two different awr1642 booster packs simultaneously, but it's not clear to me if I can set one up to function as a standalone unit while doing development work with the second, or if they both need to be connected to supporting hardware in order to work

Also, my understanding is that the launchpad, MMWAVE DEVPACK and DCA1000EVM are all separate development data tools that provide different data without redundancy or overlap. In other words, I would need to purchase all three.

Final question is whether the development software tools are free

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent

  • Hi,

First, you will only need the AWR1642BOOST EVM + Power Supply to do development.

Could you please provide more details about " I want to use two different awr1642 booster packs simultaneously,"?

Regarding other required tools, the MMWAVE DEVPACK is not needed and actually is no longer available.

The DCA1000 is only required if you need to capture raw ADC data.

    Thank you

    Cesar

  • Hi Cesar,

Good Day. Please see below the latest query of the customer for your reference. Thank you very much.

I was doing a bit more research and I think I was able to answer my last question, which is whether a launchpad is needed for development. Is there any functionality that the launchpad provides that isn't available directly with the AWR1642BOOST EVM?

    Best Regards,

    Ray Vincent

  • Hi,

Only AWR1642BOOST is needed. There is no launchpad needed

    thank you
