AWR2243: AWR2243: Max configurable Tx backoff power and step size ?

Part Number: AWR2243

Hi,

I'm searching for information about maximum configurable Tx backoff power and its step size for the AWR2243 Chip.

I came to the information described in "C:\ti\mmwave_dfp_02_02_02_01\docs\mmWave-Radar-Interface-Control.pdf" page 65, and have two questions

So the questions are:

  • 1) Is it true that the maximum tx backoff power is 9dB ? and step size is 1dB ? (as here stated that valids values: 0,3,6,9)

  • 2) If question 1 is true, then does the following note (NOTE1) matter?

Thanks,

BL

  • Hello BL,

You are referring to two different situations here.

    1. For functional chirps, if you refer to the Profile Config API i.e. AWR_PROFILE_CONF_SB, you can see the max configurable TX Back off limit is 20dB with 1dB LSB (see below screenshot).

    2. Now coming to your snippet, that is the Cal mon frequency limit for calibrations and monitoring purposes. The max supported TX Back off is 9dB in that case because calibrations are not reliable beyond that backoff as the signal level is too low. We usually recommend using 0dB Back Off for calibrations i.e. to ensure calibrations at maximum output power, unless there are some specific power issues.

    Hope this clarifies your concerns.

    Regards,

    Ishita

  • Hello Ishita,

    yes, this clarified my questions.

    Thanks.
