IWR6843AOPEVM: angle estimation

Greetings,

i have a question regarding the angle estimation technique that the IWR6843AOPEVM is using. Are Azimuth and Elevation only calculated by measuring the phase difference between the received signals for every frame, so that only one transmitter at the time is active? Or are the transmitters all active at once to generate some kind of beamforming like it is the case with phased array antennas?

Regarding to the "fundamentals" document it should be the angle or arrival method, right? What is the purpose of multiple transmitters then if they are only used one after another?

thank you for pointing out the training series, i completely forgot about those videos. Watched them once a long time ago. Part 5 definitely answered my question on the used technique for angle estimation.

But unless i missed it there doesn't seem to be any mention why there are multiple transmitters on the devices? Shouldn't one transmitter and multiple receivers be sufficient for range, velocity and angle measurement?
