TMP431: assert timing of BUSY bit

Hi Team,

I would like to ask about BUSY bit.

1)
I understand The BUSY bit reads as 1 if the ADC is making a conversion and the bit reads as 0 if the ADC is not converting.
Does BUSY bit assert "1" during "Conversion Time" that shows in Figure 20?
I would like to know the assert timing of BUSY bit.

2)
Is it possible to read temperature data during BUSY=1?
Should we read the temperature data when BUSY=0?

Dear Yaita -

For the TMP431, the BUSY bit reads as 1 if the ADC is making a conversion. This bit reads as 0 if the ADC is not converting. Therefore, you should read out the temperature when that bit is a 0. (page 25 of the datasheet)

Hi Yaita-san,

To add to Josh's reply, you can read temperature while BUSY=1. You will receive the result of the previous conversion. The power-on defaults for LEN,REN,RC,R[3:0] will cause BUSY=1 most of the time.
