IWR1443: question in paper "Vital signs monitoring of multiple people using a FMCW millimeter-wave sensor"

Part Number: IWR1443

Hi.

I read the paper "Vital signs monitoring of multiple people using a FMCW millimeter-wave sensor".

In this paper, you applied beamforming to separate vital signs of two people.

When beamforming is applied, adc data(raw data) is used for beamforming and fft is applied. (beamforming -> fft)

Considering derivation of beamforming, using fft + clutter removed data for beamforming makes no difference.

However, results of beamforming with raw data or fft data are quite different.

My question : why using adc data instead of fft data when beamforming?

Thanks

Yura
