PGA460: How to help customer use PGA460

Part Number: PGA460

Dear Sir/Ms.

I introduce PGA460 to our customers. He read the EVM user guide and found it a bit complicated. I do not understand this aspect of PGA460 products. I would like to ask did you have PGA460 has a default value that can be used. That is, after the customer gets the EVM, it can be used as long as it is plugged in. There is still an initial value that can be loaded into the EVM, I just need to take the EVM to the customer and ask him to plug in the power to test it directly.

Best Regards,

Kami Huang

  • Hello Kami,

Thank you for you question. The PGA460 has many characteristics that can be tuned to optimize ultrasonic sensing performance, this may be why it is complex to understand. For further understanding of how to use the PGA460 EVM, I recommend looking at our training series covering the setup and use of the PGA460 EVM linked here: PGA460 Training Series. Additionally, documents such as the PGA460 EVM quick start guide can be very helpful in understanding the functional characteristics of the PGA460, Linked here: PGA460 EVM Quick Start Guide.

It is difficult to setup a default set of parameters, because each sensing application is unique. Parameters such as pulse count, and drive current limit will be selected based on factors such as transducer selection, sensing range, and environmental factors. Ultimately, some level of tuning is typically recommended to ensure the best performance.

I am happy to help setup a baseline set of parameters to use in the GUI, I just require a description of the application (transducer part number/frequency, desired sensing range, sensing target, design goals).

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Regards,

    Jacob
