LDC1614: LDC1614 variation in sensor data

Part Number: LDC1614

Hi TI Team,

Is there any mathematical expression for variation of sensor values when testing LDC 1614 w.r.t metal?

Because, I can see values of LDC1614 going down as metal goes away, but I am unable to establish a relationship.

here, I am using coil diameter of 14mm and target is varying between 12mm-20mm

  • Hello,

The correlation between the target distance sensor value changes slightly between different applications. We have the Inductive Sensing Design Calculator Tool (Rev. F) that can creates a graph of expected inductance to distance and has a section for calculating the inductance and sensor frequency based on the output code. The calculations for those are also available in the datasheet. The graph in the excel spreadsheet assumes an aluminum target. Other materials will have a slightly different impact but the same general curve of data still applies. You can either measure this in the system or use a FEMM simulation with the correct material to provide more accuracy.
