AWR1843BOOST: Peak grouping config

Hi,

I have changed the value of peak grouping in the CFAR config ( in the config file I load in the out of box demo)

when I set the value to 0 ( peak grouping disabled) I detect more points for the object in front of the radar but they are placed vertically ( a bit over or under the bar the value of the height z changes a bit )

I am asking why it doesn't detect more points vertically ( changes in the x value ), any idea ?

Hi,

This is related to the way the peakgrouping is performed. Since it is performed on the z axis only the peaks on this axis are grouped

I want to detect more points of the same object ( which is a metallic bar )

when I run the demo I get only one point for that bar on the visualizer that's why I want more detected points on the x axis shown if possible.

Hi,

I assume the metallic bar is positioned as shown in the following TI Design User Guide (see Figure 3.1, 3.2

Obstacle Detection Ref Design Using 76-81 GHz Antenna-on-Package mmWave Sensor

We have performed similar tests with pipes and we have also noticed similar results.

You will not be able to get more detected points due to the fact that the reflections which are not at boresight will have much smaller SNRs and will be "covered" by the leakage from the boresight large SNR
