AWR6843AOPEVM: Vital Signs Demo - Physical Setup Verification

Part Number: AWR6843AOPEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MMWAVEICBOOST,

Hi e2e,

I am running the Vital signs demo provided in the mmwave_industrial_toolbox_4_8_0 package on an AWR6843AOPEVM with an MMWAVEICBOOST board. I am observing about 20-30% deviation in the heart rate displayed when compared to an oximeter. Can you please let us know if there is any problem with our physical setup or if this a known issue? Our physical setup is as follows :

  • The sensor is placed at 60 cm from the chest area.
  • The sensor is directly placed in front of the chest (azimuth and elevation almost 0 degree).
  • No obstructions from the field of view of the sensor to the chest area.
  • Person under observation was sitting as still as possible.

The setup for the same is provided as follows.

Thanks and Regards,

  • Hello

Based on the setup show in your images we don't see any major difference w.r.t setup.

Please take into account that this is a demo code to show the capabilities of the device and technology and does not represent the most accurate algorithm and its implementation.  Having said that , it is expected that error can vary based on person and additionally latency/lag can make it seem much larger while comparing with instantaneous  expecations.

We request you to do through testing to understand the nature of difference and conditions that affect it.

It will also help to repeat the runs with different people.

    Thank you,

    Vaibhav
