Looking at the tmp432

"Status" register 01 has a flag for "open" sensor bit 2.

If you look at the datasheet @ pg 18, it is latched and should clear upon a read of the "Status Register 0x02".

However this is not what is observed.

One has to read register "0x1B Fault Status".

I can't figure out what the channel mask register (0x1F)does either,

Can you confirm if this a data sheet problem and get the functionality of these 2 registers..

I have verified that your observation is correct; reading the “Status Register” (i.e. register 0x01) will not clear the “open” bit. Reading the “Fault Status Register” (i.e. register 0x1B) does reset the “open” bit. Thank you for pointing out this error. I apologize for the confusion.

I need to discuss the Channel Mask Register with the designer. I will get back with you on Monday with information regarding the purpose of this register.

The channel mask register functions like the MASK bit in the Configuration register for each individual channel. It masks the Alert pin from any fault conditions for the channel that is masked.

Is there a way to mask the "open" bit on the Status register for the channel not used.

The Channel Mask register masks the “Open” fault from showing on the Alert pin. If the channel is open and the Mask bit for that channel is set then the Open bit will be set after a conversion is done, but since the Mask bit is set it will not pull the Alert pin low.

Hello Burak,

No, the Mask bits only mask the Alert pin. There is no way to mask the open bit on the status register for the channel that is not used. If you are interested in finding out which channel is open, you can read the Fault Status register at address 1B.
