LDC0851: about LDC Calculation Tool

Part Number: LDC0851

Thank you very much for your help.
The calculation results are different between [LDC calculation tool] and [Webench/coil designer].
Which one should be the correct one?
By the way
    T=25°C
    C=500pF
    M=2Layers
    N=8turn
    Sensor shape=Circular
S=0.3mm
    W=1.016mm
    Copper Thickmess=1oz-cu
    Target Distamce=5mm
When calculated with
LDC Calculation Tool
 Ltotal=9.641μH
 fres=3.229MHz
 Rp=13.0KΩ
 Qfactor = 93.23
 SRF = 25.628MHz
Webench/coil designer
 Ltotal=3,452μH
 There are no calculation results corresponding to Fres, but what is Fres, which is also different from fsense?
 Which data is the result of the calculation corresponding to Rp?
 Qfactor = 98.563, which is different from LDC calculation tool.
 SRF = 3.452 MHz, which is different from the LDC calculation tool.

These are the above, but could you please explain in detail?
Thank you very much for your cooperation.

  • Hello,

    What is the outer diameter for your coil? Based on the results you mentioned, it seems to be 45.46mm.

    When I use this as the outer diameter for both cases, the webench inductance aligns with the spreadsheets inductance per layer. The webench tool is leaving off the second layer for the calculation with this device.

    Fres is the resonant frequency of the sensor. This is the frequency that the LC oscillates at and is also referred to as the operating frequency or fsense.

    Best Regards,
