hi TI

i'm writing a python script for the AWR1843 to find range and publish it on ROS but i tried it im getting data in HEX format i don't have any idea how to do it actually could to help us with conversion and finding the range from the radar or could you send dictionary to convert its format as little endian or big endian and process for conversion to get range

please !!! help me.

Hi Venkat,

Each lab and the OOB demo use a similar format to export data over UART. This is called the TLV format, and is described in the developer's guides of the labs.

I answered a thread a while back giving some more details on the TLV format. For the OOB demo, I had created a script that is capable of capturing data over UART and parsing it into a readable JSON file. but aayush i have one problem im able to get range now after modifying code on the ti ros package but the range was based on cfg we give currently we are working on obstacle detection i want radar to detect only object in front of the radar not anything behind currently im getting range but not accurate please help me with that

if possible share any configuration file

Hi Venkat,

If your config file meets all other requirements, why not simply ignore any detections that fall beyond your desired maximum range?

The radar does have a maximum theoretical range, which is dependent on the sampling rate of the ADC and the slope of the chirp. However, this is usually a restriction and not something to tune for.

Luckily, the OOB demo offers a config that can be used to restrict the 'FOV' of the detected points to within a specified range. In general, the source of any offering can always be modified to not transmit the points falling outside of a range.

You can have a look at the "cfarFovCfg" in the SDK user guide. I think this is what you are looking for. Passing this configuration with the right options will allow you to control the range in which detections will be processed by the OOB demo.
