PGA300EVM-034: PGA300EVM OWI can not be Activated

Part Number: PGA300EVM-034

Hi:

I am using PGA300EVM and trying to activate OWI as was written in the SLDU022 User Manual.

- The jumper conditions are same to the Table1 in the SLDU011B Revised Aug 2018,

except for the J14.  In my opinion, connecting VDD cap to ASIC_GND is to connect Pins 2 and 3 (top two pins) of the J14.

So jumper conditions are the same as they were default.

- 10 ~ 15 Volts power was supplied between J20 and J21.

- In the GUI, ADC and DAC are working in the Voltage mode, and OWI Configuration is the same as it was.

meaning, OWI_Baudrate is 4800 bps, Rloop Configuration is 0, Additional Voltage Configuration is 0.

- But the OWI can not be activated.

- Measuring VDD at between J12 and Gnd, it was about 5.7 Volts.

Please help me. Thanks.

  • Hello Kitae,

The first step is to make sure all of the OWI settings are actually configured per the GUI display. You can do this just by clicking on each of the "Configure OWI" and "Configure POT" buttons on the OWI page. After that, click the Activate OWI button to see if it connects.

If you are still having trouble, connect an oscilloscope probe between TP20  (VDD) and TP39 (ASIC_GND) and trigger on a falling edge around 4.5V, then click the Activate OWI button. For OWI to work properly, the voltage should swing between about 5V and 4V. If it is out of range, you can use the Additional Voltage control to move it up.

    Scott

  • Hi Scott,

    It works.

The Voltage between TP20 (VDD) and TP39 (ASIC_GND) was constant 5.14V

regardless of the input volatage I applied between 10V~20V,

Thank you for your clear explanation.

    Regards,

    Kitae
